A wedding in Dublin

I first visited Dublin on a day trip in 1995 on business. I made another one there again in 2000.
But my first real trip to Ireland was in the autumn of 2001. We were delighted to receive a wedding invitation from an American friend whose fiancée was from Dublin. The wedding was to be held just outside the city.
We flew into Dublin a few days before the wedding. We used Aer Lingus and my wife was excited to see we were seated just behind the band “Westlife” on the plane from Heathrow.
We toured the city extensively, visited the Guinness brewery and drank at several of the pubs of Temple Bar.
We then caught the little DART (pictured above) electric train from the centre of Dublin along the picturesque coast to the south to where the ceremony was to be held.
We also enjoyed an amazing stag night at the enigmatic “Johnny Fox” pub in the hills just outside Dublin.

The wedding itself the next day was truly wonderful.
I haven’t seen nearly enough of Ireland and the country is very near the top of the list of places I want to return to.
